Children and Young People Network

A network for staff and volunteers from CVSF member organisations working with children, young people & families. Participants share information and good practice and support Forum representatives on CYP issues. The Network is a key point of contact for partnership work with the Brighton and Hove Children and Young People's Trust (CYPT).

We now have 28 elected representatives on 23 CYPT partnership groups including nine area based Extended Services Cluster Groups.

We are currently focussing on representing the sector around:

  • workforce development & safeguarding children: Working with the CYPT Partnership to promote its Core Skills Programme including a pilot 'E-Safeguarding' basic level course and with Safety-Net surveying members about thei training needsaround safe-guarding (seedownloadabole questionnaire below).
  • the Children & Young People Plan (2009-12): On 24th November, following a consultation with members, we published a 'position statement' outlining a commmunity & voluntary sector perspective for the new plan. Following other consultrations with parents, schools, CYPT staff and children & young people, the plan is due to be completed in early 2009.

The CYP Network meets bi monthly. Regular emails are sent out to network members with information about opportunities for funding, training and consultation. There are about 140 CVSF member organisations in this network.
