Membership Criteria

Membership of the Community & Voluntary Sector Forum is designed to be all inclusive and therefore open to individual community groups, projects and voluntary organisations that support the Forum's aims and objectives and which

• pursue general charitable and/or social objectives for the benefit of the community
• do not exist to pursue party political, governmental or commercial objectives
• are accountable to members or users in the Brighton and Hove area and are primarily governed by volunteers and have a constitution or other accepted rules of working

Membership is also open to any voluntary organisation that provides a development and support role for community and voluntary organisations, such as umbrella bodies, federations, consortia and networks of voluntary organisations.

Individual member organisations are responsible for deciding who they send to Community & Voluntary Sector Forum activities. However, due to potential conflicts of interest, local councillors or senior local council officers may not be listed as the main contact for a member organisation, or attend Forum activities as the representative of the organisation.

Procedures to deal with any other potential conflicts of interest will be developed as an ongoing part of our development.
