Stronger Communities Programme
The Community and Voluntary Sector Forum's Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) aims to bring together organisations and communities so that they can have a meaningful voice on the 2020 Community Partnership (the city’s Local Strategic Partnership), and its wider family of partnerships. It is made up of three key areas of work:
Representation
To strengthen the representative function of the CVSF and increase understanding of how the SCP elects, supports and is an effective partner on the 2020 Community Partnership.
The aims to increase awareness, skills and knowledge linked to public services and local democracy in targeted neighbourhoods and communities of interest, creating opportunities so that everyone knows how to make their voices heard.
Communicating and Involving - Empowering Neighbourhoods
The SCP will work to promote wider community engagement, focusing on communities which are furthest to reach, reducing isolation and prejudice, building self-confidence and understanding whilst recognising separateness/retaining identity. It will strengthen the links and lines of communication between the SCP, neighbourhood forums, other neighbourhood based structures and communities of identity. It should be jointly owned and build on all engagement activity.
Building Capacity - Strengthening the SCP's Infrastructure
The SCP will increase the capacity for engagement at varying levels, strengthening the SC Partnership Board and working with partners to develop a local strategy which underpins the role of the community and voluntary sector. By addressing this priority issue, the SCP aims to increase interest in and awareness of local public life, drive up public service standards, and empower people to have more say over decisions that affect their daily lives.
